1) I can’t stop watching this.
2) I found it while looking for Sesame Street clips to watch with my two year old daughter. Woops.
3) Dig how Pesci ratches up the intensity beyond what seems possible...You think he's reached 10, then he dials it up to 11.
4) NSFW, but only due to language. But boy, what language!
5) …and the original clip is somehow anti-climatic.
PLEASE NOTE: I will be Argentina for the next few weeks, so blogging will reanimate when I return. Thanks for reading.

RIP The Polaroid 1948-2008
Here lies the nostalgia-inducing, slightly-sleazy-in-a-wonderful-way instant camera. Killed by the digital age. Factories are closing in Waltham MA, time to start stocking up on film. Never again will we experience those giddy few minutes waiting for that image to magically fade in. The Polaroid's unique way of processing everyday life into over-satuarated memory will be missed. More here.

Beck lyrics meaningless...
It’s official: the lyrics on Beck's Odelay are complete gibberish. Read about it in the Guardian here. Meaning is over-rated. Long live nonsense!

happy Chinese new...century?
World-beating financier Jim Rogers has some sobering thoughts about the state of the world that can be seen as either alarmist or prescient. His basic premise: the 19th century belonged to the UK, the 20th century belonged to the US, the 21st century will belong to China, so start getting used to it. This is from a Dutch program, but it’s perfectly understandable and quite informative. Read another interview with Jim Rogers here. Thanks to Gary Clare & David Lefer for finding these.

Where The Wild Things Are
Here’s a still from the upcoming Spike Jonze film, a live-action take on Maurice Sendak’s beloved children’s book ‘Where The Wild Things Are’ due out in late ’08 and featuring Paul Dano, Forest Whitaker and Catherine Keener. Click here for another still from Cineblend. The book was never a part of my youth as much as it was for other folks, but if the movie is half as good as Jonze’s other films (Being John Malkovich, Adaptation), videos and commercials (check the Ikea one here, the Gap one here), then color me stadium-seated in a furry suit! (Thanks Gary Clare for the tippecanoe).

Roxy Music DVD + Eno joins the gov't
This week, Roxy Music release their definitive visual document The Thrill Of It All, a double DVD set featuring rare concert footage, television appearances and videos, all taken from their peak decade of '72 to '82. I saw them a few years ago at Radio City Music Hall and they've always encapsulated a lot of what I love about music: glam, art rock , new wave, great songs, sexy-weird album covers, all shot through with Bryan Ferry's suave romanticism. Plus their album Avalon was hands-down the make out record of the '80s, although I was too scared of girls at the time to really take advantage of that. More info on the DVD collection here.
In related news, producer and ex-Roxy member Brian Eno (pictured) joins the UK Liberal Democrat party as ‘Youth Adviser’. Check the piece in the Guardian here. Meanwhile, rumors of a new Roxy Music album continue to swirl..

Falco: The Movie!
If you remember the 80s, you'll remember 'Rock Me Amadeus', a worldwide hit for Austrian pop star Falco, and arguably the biggest novelty song of the decade. Now, 10 years after his death in a car accident, there's a movie about him featuring Grace Jones:
..and a new plaque in San Francisco commemorating him:
..and in case you think he's an one hit wonder, here's the video for 'Der Kommissar', a song covered & popularized by After The Fire:
