Wire @ South Street Seaport NYC 5/30

They did a song from 'A Bell Is A Cup'. Which was cool.

Air Traffic, NJ Transit, Denmark

Okay, I'm off to the Spot Festival in Denmark for a week or so. In the meantime, check out this item on Danish music, courtesy of the Bennloxo blog. I leave you with some random photos I took recently:

New Sigur Rós & RZA Videos

New Sigur Rós video & song here. The video is NUDE NUDE NAKED NUDE (nsfw duh), and the song sounds like they've heavily inhaled the freekfolk gatorade.
RZA's new video above. The song's pretty cool, with a laid-back organic groove and a biographic turn of phrase.

Wire: Free New Track & NYC Show

Wire's new album ain't out until July, but you can check out the cover art (designed by Jon Wozencroft, best known for his coolly minimal work for the Touch label) and download a track at their website here (it's quite catchy). The band will be playing a free one-off gig at South Street Seaport NYC on Friday 3/30. Huzzah to the max!

Wonky Pop!

Been meaning to jump on the Wonky Pop bandwagon for a hot minute but real life (see 'real life') pulled me in thousand directions at once. What is Wonky Pop, you ask? It's Eurovision for the indie set: sugar sweet, helium lite, pop as all heaven and hell, unabashed, unpretentious, fun, young, catchy and just in time for summer. Check it in the Guardian, Idolator or Popjustice (when will Buzzfeed get on this?) Of course, the backlash writes itself, so enjoy it while it lasts. Check 'em technicolor tunes and remember: happy music is hard to do well!

gratuitous Milla Jovovich post of the day

In honor of the much ballyhoo'd release of Scarlett Johansson's apparently-not-all-that-terrible album of Tom Waits covers, we're dusting off exhibit A in the annals of hottie-attractive-person-turned-singer-makes-good-albumism, aka Milla Jovovich's The Divine Comedy, aka check out this Maya Deren inspired video, and yes, she's kind of artily semi-naked somewhere in there, plus she writes all her songs, was only 18 when the album came out, and how's that for a run on sentence?

Tom Waits press conference

..announcing his new tour. Nice audio/visual punchline at the end. Wait for it.
